With Dying Light 2 arriving in February 2022, Techland will hopefully deliver the new update beforehand. The most pressing of which is when it'll be available. There are still several questions left for Techland to answer regarding its planned Dying Light next-gen release. Dying Light will arrive on Nintendo Switch in less than a week, releasing October 19, and it's also the Platinum Edition of the game, so Nintendo Switch players will have access to all of the game's DLC.

In addition to a next-gen patch being in development, Techland plans to launch Dying Light on a new platform soon. The game has so much DLC now that it'd likely be a completely different experience for players who otherwise only tried the game at launch. As such, there's never been a better opportunity to revisit Dying Light. That includes its most recent DLC, Hellraid, which Techland continues to support via updates. Techland released a Platinum Edition of Dying Light in May, which collects all of the action game's various DLC. However, if Techland's comfortable announcing the next-gen update on Twitter rather than with a bigger reveal, it's more than likely to be something straightforward.

It could certainly use a layer of polish to get it upgraded for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it's possible that Techland will provide an update more substantial than general improvements. The original Dying Light was released over six years ago on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. RELATED: Dying Light 2 Adds Rosario Dawson to the Cast While details regarding what upgrades Techland is making to Dying Light aren't available, fans can probably assume improvements are being made to frames-per-second and resolution. The Dying Light Twitter account responded, saying that a next-gen patch for Dying Lightis currently in development, to the Twitter user's surprise. A Dying Light fan on Twitter asked the official account for the game if a patch could be released that would allow the game to run at 60fps on PlayStation 5. The announcement came with little fanfare. Techland appears to be encouraging this as well, as it's now confirmed to be working on a next-gen patch for Dying Light. In the meantime, some fans are taking the opportunity to return to Dying Light once more.
Fans of the original Dying Light are anxious to return to the setting's open world, to explore and battle hordes of increasingly threatening zombies. Techland's zombie apocalypse action sequel Dying Light 2 remains on course for release in February 2022.
